Very good deck. Especially for people who never played with slivers.

I love this deck. It is fairly good on its own with no modifications. Its also very good for people who have never played with slivers, and shows you all the slivers that where ever made in the game, and what series they are in. Its a 5 color deck, and no more than three of each card. Meaning it is a very random deck. But, with slight modifications, it can be VERY formidible to play against.
IF you love casual play and/or slivers, I suggest you get this deck as you will love it. |
A Sliver in Time

Most people don't see much educational value in things like Magic cards and I find that to be a huge shame. The amount of forethought required in building a deck and playing that deck properly is utterly astounding. The development of math skills as a player attempts to form the perfect ratio of lands to creatures to non-creature spells. These cards themselves even help integrate the player into an entire universe. The stories that accompany the cards tend to be fantastic pleasures that help push the player towards reading.
I used to hate slivers as a child but as I grew older I became fascinated with them. Forces of nature that seem to act separate from any preordained system of morality or thought. While it is true they have queens and overlords that may direct their cause, at their heart they are a magical call to the ant kingdom. Little creatures so utterly perfect at what they do...at least in many cases.
These cards are entirely holofoil which also adds a level of visual pleasure that many people don't get to properly see, the artwork really pops this way. It also comes in a very attractive package that I haven't even thrown away. The dice is a great addition and helps keep track of life.
Overall I hope MTG stays around for many years to come. It has provided me with endless volumes of thoughts that have in themselves inspired me mathematically, psychologically, and creatively. When I am finally published there will certainly be a special thanks to Wizards of the Coast and their team of wonderful creative minds.
If you get this at a fair price it'll make you very happy. If not building a deck from scratch is equally satisfying.
I would hope that anyone who buys these becomes as inspired as I have by the franchise over the last decade. |
Slivers are amazing

I had just gotten started with Magic a few months ago and had been playing a sturdy Green deck and alternating between that and a Massive control deck. I rummaged through some stuff and found a slivers deck that my friend gave me and I started using it and amazingly I have yet to lose with it. The cards really compliment each other and as the game drags farther along my deck gets stronger while most decks get weaker. Here is the decklist I am currently using with the slivers....
Creatures:
3 Acidic Sliver
2 Amoeboid Changeling
3 Crystalline Sliver
2 Frenzy Sliver
2 Fury Sliver
3 Gemhide Sliver
1 Heart Sliver
1 Homing Sliver
3 Metallic Sliver
3 Might Sliver
2 Muscle Sliver
3 Necrotic Sliver
1 Quick Sliver
1 Sliver Overlord
2 Spectral Sliver
1 Spined Sliver
2 Winged Sliver
Land:
2 Ancient Ziggurat
5 Forest
2 Island
3 Mountain
2 Plains
1 Rootbound Crag
2 Rupture Spire
2 Swamp
2 Terramorphic Expanse
2 Vivid Creek
2 Vivid Grove

A Good Start

The premium deck series is an intersting idea, and Slivers were a good place to start. The cards in this deck are individually solid, but overall its somewhat lack luster. A lack of constancy and way to tutor up slivers makes this deck very random, but for a beginner that would be a good thing. If your just starting magic, the Sliver deck is powerful enough to get you started, but do not expect to start destroying other people with out making some significant modifications to the deck. Since the deck is all foils, seriously consider buying sleeves for the cards to prevent the foils from getting destroyed.
Notable cards:
Rootbound Crag
Coat of Arms
Muscle Sliver
Crystalline Sliver
Sliver Overlord |

The sliver deck is pretty good on its own, as most people say, and its way of overwhelming is great, but often enough, you tend to draw useless cards and game losers. Sure sacrificing slivers to get life back is ok, but it makes a huge dent in your defense since your losing another ability. Lets say you have necrotic sliver, coat of arms, sliver overlord, and a couple other slivers out. If you sacrifice even ONE, for necrotic sliver, coat of arms is reduced and all of its abilities dissapear from your slivers.
